Galveston utilizes a pay-by-phone system for all Seawall parking. The lots at the East Beach end often reach capacity by mid-morning on summer Saturdays.
Cellular coverage is strong across the island, though network congestion can occur during large festivals like Dickens on the Strand. Public Wi-Fi is available in the historic library.
Fuel is readily available throughout the island, but often cheaper in Texas City before crossing the causeway. Most stations are located along Broadway (Hwy 45).
The Bolivar Ferry can have wait times ranging from 20 minutes to 3 hours. Check the TXDOT Twitter feed for live vessel counts and estimated delays.
While the beach is public, vehicle access is restricted to specific 'Pocket Parks' on the west end. Pedestrian-only zones are strictly enforced near the Seawall.
